The goal of the Creative Dance program is to help students develop self-confidence, coordination, a sense of rhythm, movement, flexibility, and an overall knowledge of dance. In Creative Dance students have fun doing imaginative spontaneous movement to music, which is encouraged by the use of simple props and costumes. Students are exposed to different types of music and experience what it is like to do the same exact movement to diverse styles of music. Students work on hearing the rhythm and then moving to the rhythm.

Classes are structured to match the age and abilities of students. During each class time is spent at the Ballet Barre learning basic ballet technique which promotes correct posture and body alignment while doing simple moves. As students continue to progress in class they will be challenged by adding more skills to their repertoire, and by learning longer pieces of choreography. They will even have the opportunity to create their own choreography! As they improve they will progress to the intermediate and advanced programs.

We build body awareness and posture, boost self-confidence and self-esteem, develop listening skills, motor skills, and social skills. Over all, we strive to contribute to the forming of young and healthy children. And we have fun!

Classes are taught by Nancy Rush, who received her BA in dance and who also teaches ballet to the team kids at REG.
