Redwood Empire Gymnastics was opened in Petaluma in 1978 by Steve Klotz. The gym’s first location was in the Ballroom Suite of the Petaluma Opera House on Kentucky Street. Since then it has expanded and moved three times until it settled at its present location on Payran Street. Its 18,000 square feet makes it one of the largest facilities in Northern California. It is now owned and operated by local couple Erinn and Eric VanderMeer who also own San Francisco Gymnastics.
